Hi. I?m Phillippe, and since you?re here, you must be interested in learning more about The World of CottonFluff Hollow. Or you?re really bored. Or something. Anyhow, this is my comic, and since you?re here, I may as well tell you something about myself, and CottonFluff.
Am I a plushie? No. No, I?m not. Just figured I should get that out of the way. Anyhow?
A teddy bear riding on the back of a demon.
That?s how it began, anyway.
Back in 2004, I was getting a lot of conflicting messages about my artistic style. It was too soft for some of my classmates in college, and too harsh for the most recent job I?d applied to- assistant to Lucy Blackwell, and animator who did a lot of work for Sesame Street, among other places.
So, I did this. Yes, there is no demon; that part got nixed. I like dragons better anyway:
Then, to show that I was versatile, I did this:
I then set about trying to come up some sort of story as to who they were and what they wanted. I might have been working backwards, but nevertheless, here we are, and this is the comic. Originally, the concept was very simple and gag-driven, based on the concept of juxtaposing the stuffed animal characters with a high fantasy setting I was thinking of putting them in, but that seemed too trite.
So after much thinking and random scribbling, the Forgotten came about, roughly the same time I met Sean. Happy coincidence, perhaps? At any rate, the groundwork had been laid, and all I had to do was start (and keep!) drawing.
Thanks for stopping in. Watch this space for eventual updates, maybe a FAQ if you people start asking questions or something.
PS: In case you were wondering, Amaranth and Amaranth? came from here, another bit of self-promotional art:
